Are You Good Enough?

• Roots showing

• Mane is too long

• Crows feet at 💯

• Autoimmune bloat & inflammation at it’s finest

• Less than stellar eyebrows

• Always in purple 😝 (I’ve acquired much purple through the many years of supporting 2 boys’ sports + my hubby who is a coach!)

But that’s okay.
💫
Even still… I feel like this season of my life is going somewhere great, and I can’t wait to see where God takes me!

There was discussion in a group I am in on comparison today. I am so guilty of this, in many ways.

To compare myself to others is not even practical… the family dynamics is different than anyone else’s, as are finances, work life, family structure, community involvements, health issues, etc. Time management is so important in my life, and I have been good (so far) in 2020 trying to be intentional with every moment and having purpose for every minute. But the comparison game gets me every time.

I am, in this process, learning to minimize my priority list and focus on the most important for every given moment, reminding myself every minute of the day that my life looks different than others…as does everyone’s life to others.

Only me… I, myself, am responsible for the stewardship of everything I have. I cannot gauge what I do based on what it looks like in someone else’s life. I must take those steps God ordained for ME. Not for anyone else. God is ordaining MY steps to disciple me in a way that is personal to ME…. and for His glory. God ordains others’ steps in a way that is personal to THEM.

To compare to others cheapens what God has planned for me. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to miss a second of what He has planned for me, amen?

So, don’t waste the time and energy on the comparison game. Just take each step as God ordained.

Be intentional.

Do everything with purpose – every minute.

Learn.

Grow.

If you aren’t learning, you aren’t growing.
If you aren’t growing, you aren’t really living.

God made you to shine through the darkness in your own special way. YOUR way, and no one else’s, for His glory. For you were fearfully and wonderfully made, so don’t lose site of that. Don’t fret and definitely do not compare.

You is kind. You is smart. And you is important.”

Keep shining. 🌟 💎

I’m Excited for you, 2020!

I’m Excited for you, 2020!

I’m a bit late welcoming in the new year blogger-style, but I welcome it all the same!

Day 1 – A day of rest … getting over staying up past my bedtime! Day 2 – Back to the daily grind! Day 3 – Reunited with a dear friend and stayed wayyyy longer than I probably should have. It was a sweet connection and a great way to begin the new year! Day 4 – Today. The first weekend of the year. New Mindset – New Commitments to Old Resolutions – New Business Growth – Same ‘Word of the Year ‘: INTENTIONAL (Connecting with more dear friends tonight, by the way.)

Last year, especially, I felt God had given me the word ‘intentional’ as my word of the year. This year is no different, yet it is. Same word – better committment.

Last year I wanted every minute to be filled with purpose. I didn’t want any wasted idle time or talents or opportunity for knowledge or betterment. Did I fulfill this resolution? Somewhat but, of course, I slacked at times.

This year is the same except for the fact that l’m learning from last year. Last year the learning curve was great in regards to my intentionality. I almost felt guilty if I did anything that was fun, thinking that this was just wasted idle time.

I’m going to do things differently this year with the same purpose for the word but with a better, more free mindset and with greater commitment. This year I am going to focus on the Seven F’s: Faith, Family, Finances, Fitness, Friends, Fun, and Future.

I’m still trying to figure it all out, but there will be intentional time for every seven ‘F’s’, with ‘fun’ time being intentional without feelings of guilt. Also, there WILL be some sacrifices that I will have to make in order to be successful in these areas, but again, I will be intentional about WHERE these sacrifices must fall. I just have to make certain to cultivate the life how God directs me and seek Him first in ALL things to ensure that these sacrifices are made in the areas in which HE directs.

Not every single minute has to be filled with something productive. With my personality and makeup (the way God made me), REST + down time + alone time are the ways in which I was made to RECHARGE. If I don’t get these times, then I cannot recharge and I am good for nothing or no one. This is how God made me and I do not need to feel guilty about it, all the while making sure to use this down time in a constructive manner for the sole purpose of recharging.

THIS is why I have not been ‘all in’ with my business or social media, etc. over the first few days of the new year (not that anyone has noticed or even cared). I want to make sure my priorities are right and not feel like I ‘have’ to be, whether in my business or in my life, what the status quo shows for the moment.

Having said all of this, I am EXCITED about 2020! The year 2019 brought many great things in my life and in the life of my family, and in my business as well. For that I am so very thankful and grateful to God, for He is the Maker of all things good. However, my mindset is totally different this year. Although my purpose was the same last year, this year I am starting off recharged, ready to go, ready to do whatever it takes to be intentional MOST IMPORTANTLY in my spiritual journey (Faith) and in the other 6 F’s as well!

Side note Regarding the Fitness ‘F’: I started January 1 with a mindset of starting Yoga as part of my new daily exercise regime. I did one, yes one, Downward Dog – and not even a full one at that. I quickly realized that I definitely need to invest in a yoga mat or my nose will end up face planting in the hard wood floor! But hey, that’s one more than I did last year, so ‘Go Me!’ 🙂

I would LOVE to hear your thoughts about the new year, what you learned from last year and how you are planning to do things differently this year. Please leave a comment and let’s learn from one another! (When you stop learning, you stop living!)

Happy New Year, friends! (Now, go get that second Downward Dog!) lol

May God do exceedingly, abundantly more than you could ever ask or imagine according to His power at work through you!!

XOXO,

Ephesians 3:20

Your Worst Enemy

I’ve been enjoying our Christmas tree since the day after Thanksgiving. Does it seem like ‘decorating day’ is an endless day?

1. Moving around the furniture in order for everything to fit just right, making sure there is balance.

2. Hauling everything down from the attic, spreading everything out & then living in chaotic organization until the decorations are precisely placed

3. Then the subtractions, additions + the rearranging which always accompanies the many days to follow. It’s never ending, it seems!

I wonder…

What if we were as deliberate with people and with matters of true importance as we are when we decorate for Christmas?

You know… moving around our schedules to make sure others ‘fit’? Taking the pains to ‘haul’ off or help carry the weight/burdens of others? Shifting our mindset from self and the present situation in order to see the bigger picture? Looking to make decisions based on the greater good rather than on our own selfish desires or concerns or feelings? Making those hard decisions even when it is uncomfortable?

“Where jealousy and selfishness are, there will be confusion and every kind of evil.”

James 3:16

👆 This needs no commentary. It states it perfectly…

Selfishness = Confusion+Evil

A dear friend of mine, when I was in a period of complaining, once said to me “Dana, you are you own worst enemy.”

I was focusing on myself too much, concentrating on how I felt I had been wronged or was in a desolate season thinking God was not hearing my cries.

I was waiting & waiting for something to happen, for God to fix the situation, but I was not able to get beyond a victim mentality to see what God was doing in the midst of it all — for the greater good — for His Kingdom. How fitting it is to speak of now as we are in the season of Advent and studying what it means to wait on the arrival of our Savior, don’t ya think?

I never forgot those words of my dear friend & sister in Christ. She and her words helped shape me and turn my way of thinking around many times since then to focus upward rather than on self.

We can either focus inward, on ourself & on our own selfish ambitions & desires and ‘woe is me’ mentality, or we move out of the way and let God do His perfect work THROUGH us, through OTHERS around us, & through each situation in which He has placed us.

It’s not about you (or me).

Stop focusing on your own feelings, how you’ve been wronged, or on what is wrong with the world around you.

Help stop the chaos + confusion. Ask God for wisdom + revelation to know His plan for your life in this situation & how you can make a difference or even grow from it.

Stop being your own worst enemy.

(I’m preaching to myself, again, btw.)

Happy One Year Anniversary!!

Happy One Year Anniversary!!

Wow!  I cannot believe it has been one year since I started my journey with Young Living Essential Oils! (September 1, 2018, to be exact.)  I have never, not even once, regretted this decision, and my journey just keeps getting better and better!

To mark my 1-year anniversary with Young Living, I thought I would recap how my  journey started with essential oils.

HOW I STARTED WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

So, I’ve actually been interested in essential oils for over a year now but just started doing a little bit of research on them back around March or so of this year.  This is when I began focusing on cleaning up my food lifestyle and mainly started trying to eat those foods that God created and focusing especially on eliminating foods that trigger my tummy issues, as well as joint pain, that I’ve dealt with for so long.  If you’ve been following me, then you know that around 2009 I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease that destroys the thyroid and ultimately causes hypothyroidism in approximately 90% of hypothyroid cases.  Hashimoto’s causes so many issues, for which I am the poster child!  So basically, I just wanted to start living a healthier more natural lifestyle as much as possible.  I am taking baby steps, but already I have seen so many benefits from it.

My 1st baby step was to clean up my foods. My 2nd baby step was to dive into essential oils!  I work full time and have a very active family, so I may not ‘get there’ as quickly as I’d like, but I’m gonna get there! I have fallen in love with every aspect of this journey, and am surprised daily at the number of benefits essential oils offers! You can basically use essential oils for EVERYTHING!! –> cleaning your home, beauty products, your immune system, head tension, sleep support, for muscle & joint pain, to eliminate odors in your home, stress relief, support for your pets, and there is even a line of products for your baby!  Young Living offers so much, and I am excited to be on their team!

WHY YOUNG LIVING

My research kept drawing me to Young Living essential oils.  I decided to go with Young Living over other oil companies because all the research I did keep drawing me back to their Seed to Seal promise and their high-quality standards.

Seed to Seal - step by step

They have all their own farms and they personally distill their own oils.  (You can actually visit the farms for yourself!) Their oils go beyond just being organic … even the soil in which they grow the plants has never been treated with pesticides or chemicals. I absolutely love this fact because I am trying to get away from everything that is toxic and unnatural as much as I possibly can.  This means you’re using an oil with just one ingredient.  If there is anything that I’ve learned recently, it’s that you cannot depend on a label’s claim to be organic or all natural…you have to be sure to look at the ingredients.  The fewer ingredients there are on the label, the more likely to be organic.

With Young Living, there are no fillers, no additives and no chemicals whatsoever.  Many oils that are more budget friendly (especially over the counter oils) are full of pesticides and toxins that begin from the initial start. There are companies out there that cut corners to save money so they can offer a cheaper oil, which is disheartening, especially to those who do not know what to look for. Many essential oils are sold more cheaply because companies cut corners, but not Young Living. Their products are purely organic with the seed to seal purity promise!

HOW TO GET STARTED

The most affordable way to get started with Young Living is by purchasing any starter kit and enrolling as a member. The benefit of being a member is that you get a 24% discount on products forever and always. I personally chose the Premium Starter Kit and I LOVE it.

It comes with 12 of the most commonly used oils–including Digize for tummy issues (one of my favorites!),  your choice of diffuser (I chose Desert Mist but the Lantern is to die for!), and lots of samples including the Thieves household cleaner, which is amazing. This really is the best bang for your buck (it’s the only thing on the Young Living website that is HALF OFF!) and it saves you a ton of money compared to buying each thing individually.  The Desert Mist diffuser is around $80 if purchased alone! So, you can see why ordering a starter kit can be so beneficial to your budget. You can also order as a retail customer, but you won’t get the 24% discounted pricing.

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It!

If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It!

8…. Yes, eight.

That’s how many brands I tried. None of them worked.

Let me explain.

My son married exactly one month ago today, outside, during the hottest month of the year (August). #1) I’m a sweater. #2) I’m a cry-er. Both of these usually spell doomsday for my makeup! I wanted to get THE BEST foundation that would not only carry me through the heat of the wedding but also keep me from having to touch up. So, I went on a hunt.

I tried out every long-lasting, waterproof foundation imaginable… some from my local mart and other high-end brands that promised to deliver. The four in the background of this ‘Testimony Tuesday’ pic I shared with my team are half of those I tried, none of which delivered. Oh, they covered well and they lasted a long time, but I was not happy with how my skin looked after the application, not to mention the irritation and blemishes that followed. Not only that, I knew I was headed back to ‘Toxic Nation’ with all the chemicals and synthetic ingredients and fragrances (hence the blemishes)….everything that I’ve been working to eliminate from my lifestyle over the last year.

I finally landed on one certain foundation for the big day, but I was not satisfied with how it looked on my skin. It looked, and felt, like it had been ‘placed’ on my skin, sitting on top of it like a mask. It did not look or feel natural at all. PLUS….the chemicals. UGH.

If you’ve been following me, then you know that I do use Savvy Minerals foundation, and I LOVE it! However, at this very important time in my life, I doubted its capability to maintain coverage ‘under pressure’ and to stay put for the night. Why? I don’t know!

Since the big day, I have worn Savvy Minerals foundation not only during my everyday work life, but also to move my son and his new wife into their new home. We packed and unpacked and loaded and unloaded – all the good things that come with a big move, including sweat!! Savvy Minerals definitely delivered!! The description actually says it all, “… long-lasting, all-day foundation made with high-quality, mineral-based ingredients.” Need I say more?

The thing I have noticed with Savvy Minerals foundation is that the longer it stays on your face, the creamier and more like skin it looks. The warmth from your face seems to ‘bake’ it into your skin leaving a radiant, natural glow. Savvy Minerals foundation is also buildable, so you can go from sheer coverage to full coverage if you’d like, as it blends flawlessly! *smooth like buttah!*

The best thing about Savvy Minerals, in my opinion, is that it does not have any fillers, synthetics, or parabens, making it a great choice for sensitive skin, which I have.

I knew Savvy Minerals foundation was a great product and, through this process, I found out JUST how good!

Lesson learned: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

Healthy Fall DIY Coffee Creamers for the AIP Lifestyle

Healthy Fall DIY Coffee Creamers for the AIP Lifestyle

Oh…my dear, beloved coffee….

You haven’t been the same since I began my journey to the AIP lifestyle!

Okay, okay….I know regular caffeinated coffee isn’t AIP compliant, but I just can’t bring myself to give it up completely! I have, however, gone without it for months at a time giving myself limited access to it whenever I have a flare-up, but I just haven’t the discipline to give it up completely…just yet.

NutPods is one of my most favorite coffee creamers in the WORLD, but it can render itself a bit too pricey for my budget to keep it in constant rotation. Soooo…..I’ve been on the hunt for non-dairy AIP-compliant coffee creamer recipes that I can quickly whip up at home!

Having said that, I think I have found some Non-Dairy Coffee Creamers from christcenteredholidays.com that appear to be ‘to die for’ recipes for the AIP bound!

I have not made them yet, but I was so excited to share these recipes in hopes that it can prevent others from having to spend a whole cow’s worth amount of money on non-dairy creamers contained in a school-sized milk carton container! I mean….let’s get real for the groceries-on-a-budget peeps….these containers took me back to my primary years in elementary school. It is so hard for me to justify spending that kind of money on a creamer – especially since I use so much… It doesn’t last me long at all!

I am partial to the unsweetened creamers, hence my love for the hazelnut taste of NutPods. Therefore, my first attempt at making these homemade coffee creamers will be with the Hazelnut Coffee Creamer recipe! (Since hazelnuts are indeed a nut, it’s important to note that they are not included in AIP unless reintroduced tolerated, which I have done…. thus far.)

Here are the four healthy coffee creamers taken directly from the christcenteredholidays.com site, with my Hazelnut preference listed first!

Hazelnut Coffee Creamer Recipe

1 (5.4 ounce) can organic coconut cream
2 tbsp real maple syrup
2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
3 tbsp raw hazelnuts
1/4 tsp pink himalayan salt

Pumpkin Spice Coffee Creamer Recipe

(5.4 ounce) can organic coconut cream
2/3 cup organic pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
2 tbsp real maple syrup
2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp pink himalayan salt

Vanilla Cinnamon Coffee Creamer Recipe

(5.4 ounce) can organic coconut cream
2 tbsp real maple syrup
2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp pink himalayan salt

French Vanilla Coffee Creamer Recipe

NOTE: Since the mixing instructions for each of these healthy flavored coffee creamer recipes is the same, I’ve listed the ingredients for each recipe first and then the instructions at the end.

1 (5.4 ounce) can organic coconut cream
2 tbsp real maple syrup
2 tbsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp pink himalayan salt

Recipe Instructions (for all four healthy coffee creamers):

Combine all ingredients in a high-speed blender (such as a Vita Mix blender) and whirl on high for one minute or until ingredients are completely combined.

Serve immediately. Store unused portion in a covered container in the refrigerator.

**NOTE: When my regular blender that I’d had for eons broke down on me, I went on the search for a blender that would be able to blend up all my veggies for my daily green smoothie, and one that was big enough to hold everything I wanted to blend (which is a LOT!) I was so very reluctant to by the Vita Mix blender, but after inquiring and getting the public’s opinion on my Instagram site (instagram.com/alifeblessed), many of you kept stating that the Vita Mix was worth the money. The one I linked is the exact Vita Mix I bought. I had to put it on the payment plan, which is interest free, by the way, because I just don’t have several hundred dollars to spend at a moment’s notice. Reluctantly, my hubby agreed to do it. He knew how serious I have been about my health and knew that I would not let it just sit in the corner of the counter unused. He knew better, which is the ONLY reason he agreed to do it.

Let me just say …. BEST MONEY I’VE EVER SPENT!! The peeps’ verdict was right:

IT IS SOOOOOO WORTH THE MONEY!!

I would LOVE for you to try these recipes and let me know which one is your FAVE!

Have a variation to any of the recipes that you think works better? Let me know!

Be sure to leave a comment so others can benefit from your discovery!

Happy day, friends. May the joy of the Lord be your strength today and every day!

xoxo,

Alleviate Your Stress

Alleviate Your Stress

God not only provides stress relief through His word and through communion with Him… He also, through nature, provides other ways to help alleviate stress, and Young Living has them in their purest forms:

• Stress Away
• Peace and Calming
• Lavender

There are many more, but these are 3 of my favorites. (And fortunately, all 3 are included in the starter kit!)

What are your favorite go-to remedies and/or essential oils for stress relief?

Ordinary People

Ordinary People

An ordinary people… that’s what I am.

*WARNING: transparent post ahead*

Todd and I were talking this morning, about many things … well, about everything, really. It is one of my most favorite things to do… to just sit in the stillness of the morning and spend time with one another discussing life.

One of the things that has been on my mind lately is my little side hustle with Young Living. To be honest, I truly don’t like referring to it as ‘my side hustle’ because it has become a lifestyle for me. Actually, it’s not even a lifestyle but rather a large part of my life. I have incorporated this wellness lifestyle into my life journey so much so that it is just the ‘norm’ for me and my hubby.

Having said that, one of the thoughts that has plagued me recently is that there are so many ‘oilers’ I’m connect to or follow that are doing so well building their businesses, and it just seems effortless for them. (‘Seems’ being the key word.) Many are already well-known bloggers or influencers who already have such a large following that it appears to be so easy for them to reach so many people and be able to touch and educate a vast group about the benefits of these natural, 100% pure products. That is truly wonderful, seriously, because I feel that as many people as possible SHOULD be informed about these God-given remedies.

However, this is an area of discouragement for me because I can’t reach that many people. I feel like I am stuck in my own little IG community with an open door that leads to nowhere.

I am one person.

I don’t have a vast following.

I am not an influencer, per say.

I am a blogger (part-time) but I am not successful, per say.

Do you know what ‘per say’ means?

It means ‘by itself.’

I am not these things I mentioned above, per say, but with God, I am. Todd reminded me of that this morning.

When I mentioned my discouragement, he immediately responded without hesitation, “God used ordinary people to be His disciples and do great things.”

*drop the mic 🎤

Let’s face it… these successful bloggers and influencers that I speak of are most likely those ordinary people whom Todd spoke of that God is using for His glory!!

How quickly I have forgotten why I wear my mustard seed bracelet 24/7… I never take it off! (Purchased from Marianne at Gracefully Wrapped.) My ‘faith as a mustard seed’ should not be compartmentalized and practiced only in certain areas but it should consume every area of concern in my life.

No… I am not all these things, but with God, I am.

I am what HE calls me to be for such a time as this.

I absolutely CANNOT take my eyes off of Him for one minute, because when I do, I make it all about me.

It’s not about me but rather about the God I serve.

I am not… but I know ‘I Am.’

Thank you, Todd, for that reminder.

Go out today and be ordinary, but allow yourself to be open to God and do great things for His glory.

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

Passion in a Picture

Passion in a Picture

He wanted me to ride out to the baseball field with him.

“But, of course I will!”

I couldn’t help but snap these pics of his silhouette as the sprays of water collided with the rays of sun, making for a very “My life in a square” moment, and one that was very quintessentially Todd!

This picture captures him to the core showing his passion, not in the throws of a heated battle nor in the excitement of a victorious win, but rather in the quiet stillness of a solemn golden hour.

Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.” -Anthony J. D’Angelo

His passion runs deep.

He still continues to grow… because he is still excited about learning.

And he still makes my heart go puh, puh, puh…

The Turtoise Testimonial

The Turtoise Testimonial

Let’s travel backwards for a minute, shall we?

  • PIC 1: MAY 2019
  • PIC 2: EASTER 2018
  • PIC 3: JUNE 2011
  • PIC 4: MY WELLNESS STATION

There are some who know I use essential oils and have commented “You better not share that you’ve stayed above the wellness line anymore” whenever I’ve ended up below the wellness line from time to time.

I get it… I claim to use these ‘awesome’ oils & end up getting sick??

*Guys… these oils HAVE kept me above the wellness line, no doubt about that, and I’ll always proclaim that because it’s not just words I’m speaking… it’s my real life I’ve been living!

I’ve never claimed that they are “cure all – end all” remedies.

Scripture says it rains on the unjust AND the just! Likewise, even when using these oils, I will get sick at some time or another because that’s just life. I’m around people… people have germs… I’m in the environment… I’m not in a bubble; But if I can do something to help prevent an illness or reaction or to support my mental, emotional and physical health or remove things (toxic products) from my life that are endocrine disrupters, you bet your bottom dollar I’m going to do it.

And let me just add that I am not against modern medicine. I still consult with my doctor whenever I add a new Young Living supplement into my daily regimen just to make sure that it doesn’t have an adverse reaction to the modern medicine that I HAVE to take on a DAILY basis! I have the best doctor in the world; he has more knowledge in his big toe than I would ever know what to do with if I possessed it! I trust him fully and completely and I will always seek his medical advice.

But… if I don’t HAVE to take modern meds and can combat issues with the plant-based remedies that God put here on earth for us to use, I’m all about it!

I have this one life to live. God has given me this one temple to use for His glory, so I am (in the words of my dad) determined to do my part here on earth and let God take care of the rest.

I am beyond thankful for my Young Living products… I can’t even put into words how grateful I am. I don’t want to push them on anyone… but those things I love, I love to share with others.

I started this wellness journey circa May 2018 incorporating an AIP diet as well as implementing the ‘ditch & switch’ lifestyle which includes mostly Young Living products and essential oils. I’m still progressively making the switch as it takes some time, and I, myself, am still a work in progress learning as I go.

But just look through the pics …  see the progression of how my wellness journey is going … and tell me I’m crazy.  It may be a slow progression, and I may be in turtoise mode, but slow & steady runs the race!

Olive / Avocado Oil Sprayer

Mistro Brushed Aluminum Olive Oil Sprayer –  Okay….this may seem like a strange gift, but I saw this the other day and thought it was genius!  One thing I’ve been trying to do is eliminate as many toxins from my life as possible, and those non-stick sprays that you can buy at your local grocery are FULL of chemicals! Those chemicals get on your food and then you ingest them!  This sprayer is exactly what I need!

  • MISTO is a reusable oil spray and mister bottle that gives you the convenience and health benefits of typical aerosol sprayers but in a more healthy, economical and environmental way
  • Fill MISTO with your favorite oils, vinegars, lemon and lime juice and other liquids. Great for dressing salads, breads, or cooking
  • Easy-to-use pump style cap features a 2-step operation: simply pump the container, then and press the valve on the pressurized sprayer for an even mist
  • Environmentally friendly, the non-aerosol sprayer doesn’t use chemical propellants, and it’s refillable, so no more throwing cans away to end up in landfills.
  • MISTO is BPA-free – threading the cap on incorrectly allows air to escape and in turn does not allow the bottle to build up pressure to spray

This is PERFECT for EVERY kitchen!

A.S.A.P.

A.S.A.P.

I got a very late start to my quiet time this morning.

I hate that!

It makes my day ‘off’ for the rest of the day. Anybody feelin me??

The thing is…hubby is out of town, and I don’t sleep very well when he is gone. It was almost 2:30 before my mind would allow me to settle in for the night, and only after I rubbed myself down with Lavender and Stress Away.

I would have grabbed those oils earlier but, truthfully, I didn’t want to. I’m a scaredy cat when he is gone and I imagine all kinds of noises and burglars and fires and all kinds of crazy stuff that could happen, and I wanted to be awake should any of it happen so I could RUN!! lol

Ludicrous, I know. 😑🤦🏻‍♀️

But as my mind was running 100 miles an hour this morning thinking of the million things I had to do, I walked by this tiny wooden plaque that was gifted to me reminding me that there is ALWAYS time to stop and pray.

I will not rush through my quiet time, and I will savor it.

It is THE most important priority of EVERY day.

Afterwards, I’ll prioritize my list making sure to tackle the most important first and leave the rest for another day.

I’m glad hubby was only gone one day, but had he not, the little plaque that stopped my thoughts reminded me that “The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2)

Fear is a liar.

And I shall not be afraid.

Now… on to diffusing some Frankincense and Lavendar as I soak up God’s word!

Sixteen Years…

Sixteen Years…

16 years ago, on January 7, my Mom went to her eternal home.
Oh, how I miss her, but oh, how happy am I for her to be where she is!

I penned a little poem in her memory… just simple little questions that I’ve often asked her in my mind, and longings that never die.
—-
Sixteen years in heaven…
what does that feel like, mama?
Does it look or smell any different there;
Is it pretty with a sweet aroma?

Sixteen years with Jesus…
Were you greeted with embrace?
Does He look you in the eye,
Does He talk to you face to face?

Is there a chair for you to sit in…
Or do you float upon a cloud?
Does music play nonstop?
Is it soft, or is it loud?

Do you tell Him all about us…
The ones you left on earth?
Your friends and your dear sweetheart,
and of those you’ve given birth?

Sixteen years without you
seems to be a long, long time.
I miss all things about you…
your laugh, your love, your time.

Time, they’ve said over and o’er,
Should help to ease the pain.
That may be true, alas,
but it’s more loss to me than gain.

But, Oh, how I would not call you down
from the life of bliss you’re in
To ease my life of selfishness
just to have you back again.

I’ll see you once again, dear mom,
and our other loved ones too
Who share that side of heaven…
all those we’ve bid adieu.

I’ll keep your legacy alive
by doing what you’ve taught.
And teach your words on down the line
and doing what I aught

By seeking God in everything,
to trust Him and obey.
And when I’ve finished my final race,
I’ll see you again someday.
